Jaelynn’s senior session at Middle Creek Wildlife Management Area was one of those evenings that reminds me why I love photographing seniors in Lancaster County. The trails were quiet, the wildflowers were still hanging on, and the evening light did that soft golden thing it does so well this time of year.
Ephrata High School Senior and Softball Player
Jaelynn is a senior at Ephrata High School, where she plays softball for the Lady Mounts. She wanted her senior portraits to feel like her, not some stiff posed version of a senior, so she brought along a few things that matter to her: her softball glove, her bible, and the stuffed monkey she has had since she was little.

Golden Hour Senior Pictures on the Trails at Middle Creek
We started near the stone building at the visitor area, then wandered the trails and open fields as the light got better and better. We mixed relaxed portraits with a few sporty shots featuring her glove and a ball, and we even stole a quiet black and white moment with her mom in the wildflowers. Those in between moments are always my favorite.
One of my favorite frames from the evening is the little still life of her props in the grass: the glove, the bible that reads “God is within her, she will not fall,” and the monkey. It sums up the whole session in one image.
